Lucy has her own style of doing everything, including lunging. Normally lunging is used to take the edge off your horse, especially the high-strung horses. It’s not uncommon to see a horse trotting or cantering around on the lunge line…in fact, that’s normal. Lucy doesn’t do normal though. She likes to go where no horse has gone. This is her take on lunging…
I’m not doing anything to encourage this from her (besides the occasional reminder to keep going). This is all her. And no, she’s not going this slow because she’s on a driveway (side note–never lunge a horse on a solid surface like a driveway; this was for demonstration purposes only!). She would go this slow anywhere. Arena, pasture, show grounds, this is Lucy in all her splendor. And God help the person that asks her to trot. Trotting would look like she was possibly enjoying herself and she’d hate for you to get the wrong impression. If you look closely, you’ll even notice a couple tail swishes and a minor ear pin (0:25) to warm me not to ask for more. From her point of view, there is absolutely no good reason to go even a smidge faster.
I always knew she was a special one.

Hahahaha!!!! That is EXACTLY like her! ;) she would do that….
Isn’t it? She’s a keeper! :)
